While visiting the Boston Globe’s “The Big Picture” blog today a noticed that the last photo, made by photographer Leon Neal, shared many similarities to a picture I made back in December 2005.
I made the picture on a visit to Berlin while studying abroad in London. I thought it would be nice to illustrate how easy it is now for one to cross between the former East and West Berlin territories. Apparently, Neal had the exact same idea for this week’s 20th anniversary of the wall’s fall.

My brother pointed out to me that the person in my image is walking from former West Germany to East Germany, while Neal’s subject is directly across the street walking the opposite direction.
